Link in London - "We mean business" event - 12th June

Providing the Capital’s female entrepreneurs with the skills
for success.

Over 200 delegates attended the ‘We Mean Business’ women’s
event held on the 12th June 2008 at the Guoman Tower Hotel, overlooking
Tower Bridge. The event, for established, female business
owners, was designed to celebrate female achievements, despite the
current economic climate.
BLIL’s own Chief Operations Officer, Fran Currie, acted as
chairwoman and host throughout the evening.
Key
speakers included Chair of the London Assembly, Jennette Arnold;
Liz Jackson of Great Guns Marketing and Ritu Sethi, Founder of The
Sethi Partnership and contributor to Asian Voice magazine. Each
gave an inspirational speech about women in business and set the
mood for a motivating evening.
Liz
started her company Great Guns Marketing at the age of 25, with
a £4,000 loan from the Prince’s Trust. She now turns
over more than £2.5 million a year. Liz went completely
blind, when setting up her business in 1998 and had the crowd in
roars of laughter as she told her inspiring story.
Ritu, entrepreneur and a regular contributor to Asian Voice magazine,
founded The Sethi Partnership Solicitors over ten years ago and
has won numerous awards, scooping the prestigious First Women Award
for Business Services (sponsored by the CBI and Lloyds TSB) only
the night before our event.
In addition to the speaker line-up, the event involved 1-2-1 Business
Advice Clinics and practical workshops held by Penny Power of ecademy
and Benjamin Smart a Business Link in London adviser.
Despite an activity packed evening, there was still plenty of time
for networking over wine and food.
